Matthew Shaw

Matthew has had a long and successful career in complex capital markets, spanning 30 years and three continents. Prior to cofounding the Investment Manager, Matthew established a family office focused on angel and early stage investments in renewables, fintech, technology, digital assets, and impact investments. From 2003 to 2013, Matthew was an advisor to the Chairman of Gazprombank and as part of that role, established and jointly ran a carbon fund joint venture between Gazprombank and Dresdner (then Commerzbank) called Carbon Trade & Finance SICAR. He also advised Gazprombank on complex structured products including an equity derivative program. From 1998-2002, Matthew was a founding equity partner of DEPFA Investment Bank Limited, focused on emerging market public sector debt. From 2002 to 2003, Matthew was General Manager of DEPFA Investment Bank. From 1987 through 2002, Matthew held several positions at major financial institutions including ANZ Merchant Bank, Moscow Narodny Bank and UBS, working on complex emerging market financial products including multi-country debt cancellation swaps, trading, structured asset backed securities, debt capital markets, and market making. Matthew is also the founder of Navigator Capital, Industrial Knowledge (acquired by Yokogawa Electric Corporation in 2016), Universal mCloud Corp (recently listed on TSX.V) and SteviaLife Sweeteners. Matthew is an alumnus of the Executive Program at Singularity University and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manchester University, UK and an MBA from Bradford University, UK.
